I think I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas shopping. What turned into a day of professed selflessness in the Christmas shopping department turned into me buying two winter jackets for myself. Le sigh. But I did make good progress on my list. I finally got to watch Savage Grace. It was strangely disturbing yet breathtakingly beautiful. Julianne Moore is amazing, and Eddie Redmayne, who has modeled for Burberry, has to be the most beautiful human being I’ve ever seen. It’s actually a true story, which blows my mind.
Christmas soon. I think I will try to bake some goodies to get me through the cold weather, like these vanilla roasted pears from Smitten Kitchen.

The popularity of animated films has made it so that for a while, all the cartoons that were being churned out were animations. Most recently though, Disney is paying a tribute to hand drawn cartoon with the Princess and the Frog, which to be honest, I don’t find myself at all excited about. This has made me realize one thing, and that is that animations tend to have a more subtle and modern, almost dorky but sophisticated (= nerdy) sense of humor, whereas hand drawn cartoons are looney and the jokes are either a hit or miss. Is that true? Do you guys prefer animations or classic hand drawn cartoons? Either way, check out this short Martell production. It’s cute.

I know, I know, it’s been awhile. Life has been crazy, I’m just looking forward to getting past finals and finally going home for the holidays. I want a hot bath, some spiced cider, and a good book or some good company, not necessarily all together though. That’s all I’m asking for for Christmas this year! Happy Thanksgiving! Hope yall are going to stuff your faces, I know I am.
Anyway, I have this horrible feeling that I’m going to cry when we go around the table and say what we are thankful for, so I am going to try to get it out of my system now to avoid embarrassment later.
This year I am thankful for:
1. The wonderful and inspiring people I have met and gotten to know, and for the ones already in my life.
2. All the mistakes I have made, stupid or not stupid. From them I have learned to be a better and smarter person.
3. My boyfriend. I love him.
4. My other boyfriend, architecture. We fight all the time and sometimes he makes me want to rip out my hair. But since he has been in my life I have grown exponentially and there is no way I could imagine life without him in it.
5. Finally, I am super super thankful for all the things I don’t have to worry about: food, clothing, education, etc. I am thankful for my happiness and all the lessons I have learned, all the experiences I have had, and all the beautiful things I’ve seen.
